New Spin off of That 70’s show

“That ’70s Show” creators Terry Turner, Bonnie Turner, and Mark Brazill have announced a new spin-off series, “That ’90s Show,” now streaming on Netflix. The show follows the Formans’ Point Place, Wisconsin, basement, which is once again open to teens and their smoke circles.

The series introduces the inexperienced Leia Forman, daughter of high school sweethearts Eric Forman & his neighbor Donna. While staying with her retired grandparents, Red and Kitty Forman for the summer, Leia forms deep friendships with neighborhood kids, has her first kiss, and even her first heartbreak.

The new series also updates fans of the original on what the old crew is up to now. The creators of the show initially rejected Netflix and executive producer Tom Werner’s request to revisit the 1998-2006 Fox show twice before getting on board. Turner says that as the COVID-19 pandemic wore on, they felt a longing for something that they had and wanting to go back home again.

The show follows the characters as they navigate their adult lives in Chicago. Donna is now an author and Eric is an adjunct professor who teaches a course on “The Religion of ‘Star Wars’.”

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis reprise their roles as Kelso and Jackie, and in the premiere episode, they visit the Forman residence before their “second remarriage.” They are parents to Jay, played by Mace Coronel.

The show also features Wilmer Valderrama as Fez, who now owns a chain of salons called “Chez Fez.” The company slogan, “Where everyday is a good hair day,” allows Fez to bring back his signature line, “I said good day.” Executive producer Lindsey Turner has said that the characters of Jackie and Kelso are like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, who can’t stay away from each other.
